DBIS research group receives ACM Multimedia Award for database system Cottontail DB

At this year's ACM Multimedia Conference (ACM MM), the largest and most renowned international conference in the multimedia area, the research prototype system Cottontail DB developed at the Databases and Information Systems (DBIS) research group received the best open source award. Cottontail DB is a novel and innovative database system that supports the storage and analysis of multimedia data and enables efficient searches in large multimedia databases. It also serves as database backend of the successful multimedia search engine vitrivr of the DBIS research group.
