In 2010, the Department of Mathematics and the Department of Computer Science merged to form the joint Department of Mathematics and Computer Science with a total of 14 professorships. With this merger, the Mathematical Institute with its centuries-old history and the young and growing Department of Computer Science were merged into a single organisational unit.
At the beginning of 2015, the Department moved from its previous five locations to its new joint domicile at Spiegelgasse 1/5. At Spiegelgasse, the department has workplaces, seminar rooms, learning places for students, computer laboratories and a library.
