Welcome to the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science

The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science has 16 professorships, currently three SNFS professorships and employs about 150 people in research, teaching, and administration. It offers study programs in mathematics (on the bachelor's and master's levels), computer science (on the bachelor's and master's levels) and actuarial science (interdisciplinary master's program).  

Information on the Latest Measures Relating to the Coronavirus Situation

The building at Spiegelgasse 1 is open for the members of our university.

The following guidelines are in place for the mezzanine floor (learning spaces) as of November 1, 2021:  

  • A certificate is required and a mask must be worn all the time (Exception to the mask requirement: When eating and drinking in the designated area)
  • Except in the designated area it’s forbidden to eat and drink
  • The indicated maximum number of people allowed in the designated eating and drinking area must be strictly adhered to
  • The table surfaces are to be cleaned with the provided detergents before use
  • Attendance must be recorded either by scanning the QR-code with the Swiss Covid App for Contact Tracing when entering and leaving the floor or by filling in the forms provided for contact tracing and placing them in the box nearby
