The University of Basel has set itself the goal of being a family-friendly, equality-oriented, non-discriminatory and barrier-free university. The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science actively contributes to shaping a diverse and inclusive university through a variety of initiatives.

The aim of the group is to support women in STEM fields in general and to increase the participation of women in Computer Science and Mathematics in particular.

"We are Computer Science" is a non-profit do- and think-tank based in Basel. It focuses on increasing gender inclusivity and promoting an unbiased and fair future for all in the field of Computer Science.

Diversity & Inclusion Office of the University of Basel

Since 1998, the University of Basel has had its own Office for Diversity & Inclusion. Since then, the unit has been working continuously to make the university more inclusive for students, researchers and staff. This includes the following seven goals: Appointing more women, acting in a family-friendly manner, protecting personal integrity, strengthening intercultural skills, promoting diverse careers, enabling barrier-free studies and making the university inclusive.

Diversity Commission of the Faculty of Science

In addition to the University of Basel, the Faculty of Science also maintains a commission to promote the different experiences and perspectives of all members of a diverse university. All departments of the Faculty are represented in the committee.
