Prof. Dr. Ivan Dokmanić new Professor in Data Analytics
Prof. Dr. Ivan Dokmanić has been appointed as professor for Data Analytics at the Faculty of Science. Since 2016 he has been assistant professor at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at University of lllinois in Urbana-Champaign (USA). He begins his position at the Department of Mathematics and Computer Sciecne 15 October 2019.
Dokmanić, born 1984 in Bjelovar (Kroatien), studied Electrical Engineering in Zagreb and at ETH Lausanne, where he received 2015 his PhD in Computer and Communication Sciences. He performed postdoctoral research at ETH Lausanne, at the Institut Langevin and at École normale supérieure in Paris.
In seiner Forschung verfolgt Dokmanić eine Kombination aus maschinellem Lernen und Signalverarbeitung mit Anwendungen in Computational Acoustics, Computational Imaging und der allgemeinen Verwendung von audiovisuellen Daten. Seine laufenden Projekte untersuchen etwa die Verwendung von Echos in der auditiven Szenenanalyse und die Rolle der Abstandsgeometrie und der nicht konvexen Optimierung in der molekularen Bildgebung.
