Nationaler Zukunftstag 2023
On November 9, 2023, we had the pleasure of welcoming pupils from various Swiss cantons to the section of Computer Science.
After a warm welcome by Professor Heiko Schuldt, the students gained insights into the work of the Biomedical Data Analysis Group and the Databases and Information Systems Group.
The students learned that technologies used in artificial intelligence can also be applied to other, very practical tasks. An example of this is predicting the groundwater level, which is particularly relevant when drilling wells.
Furthermore, our visitors had the opportunity to explore our VR Lab and view a virtual exhibition that be fully explored in the virtual space. Research projects like this make it possible to present virtual exhibitions to a global audience, allowing for an expansion of museum exhibition space without spatial limitations.
In addition to these aspects, the doctoral students shared their personal motivations for choosing a career in computer science, emphasizing that they would make the same decision again.
Beyond informative insights into research and career choices, the pupils had the chance to gain practical experience and engage in programming themselves. Using the XLogo programming language, they programmed mandalas, stopwatches, and timers.
