Rahel Arnold receives this year's University of Basel’s Sports Prize

The Sports Prize, sponsored by Basler Versicherungen AG, went to Rahel Arnold, MSc, a PhD student in the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science.

In an official ceremony, the University of Basel celebrated its 562nd Dies Academicus honoring individuals from academia and society. This year's Sports Prize was awarded to Rahel Arnold. She became Swiss champion in the elite discipline of compulsory roller figure skating in 2022. She has been in the Swiss national squad since 2009 and also participated in the 2022 European Championships in the free skating category and the European Cup in the compulsory category. She was also the only elite skater from Switzerland to qualify for the 2022 World Games in Argentina.

Rahel Arnold is a PhD student in the Databases and Information Systems Research Group and has completed her bachelor's and master's degrees in Computer Science in Basel at the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science.
