Emeritus Actuarial Science
Prof. University of Basel 1989 - 2012
In his academic and practice-oriented work, Herbert Lüthy dealt with the interface between actuarial mathematics, risk management and supervision in the insurance industry. He played a central role in the conception and introduction of the Swiss Solvency Test (SST), thereby driving forward the development of more risk-based insurance supervision in Switzerland. He was also involved in setting up the "Actuarial Science" Master's program at the University of Basel, thereby laying a solid foundation for linking teaching and regulatory practice in the insurance sector.
