Algebraic and geometric presentations of algebraic groups over local fields

I will give "algebraic presentations" of algebraic groups, and develop, as consequences: Abels' criterion for a p-adic algebraic group to be compactly presented, and polynomial estimates on the Dehn function of real or p-adic algebraic groups.
