Some examples of numerical resolution of PDEs from the physics with FreeFem++

FreeFem++ is a free software for numerical resolution of partial differential equations using the finite elements method. After a short presentation of the possibilities of the software, we will see through examples how to approach PDEs with mesh adaptation and parallel computing. These examples are among

  • Piezoelectric problems

  • Thermal problems with thermal resistances

  • Elasticity problems

  • Problems of fluid mechanics like incompressible Navier-Stokes

  • Problem of melting and/or solidification of the ice. (Boussinesq with specific heat)
